![]() ![]() Throughout these stunts there are multiple challenges to complete to receive bonus money. The whole objective is to play each of the five stunts in the episode and earn enough cash to move on. Much like the show, Jackass: The Game is several episodes comprised of multiple stunts. Whether you were a fan or not, you are probably familiar with the insane shenanigans that this group of guys performed for years on end, and suffice to say it was probably better to leave their ridiculous brand of humor out of the gaming world. We'll see how it all pans out this September.Although they can hardly be considered pop culture icons, the boys from Jackass still left an indelible mark on television. We're not sure how many great clips we'll see on YouTube, but it's nice to see a developer giving gamers more freedom with their gameplay experiences. Of the two version we've seen, we're actually more impressed with the handheld version, thanks in part to its extensive infrastructure network implementation. It's pretty unfair, though while we don't necessarily think that what we've seen of the game will bring much new to the table in regards to gameplay, we're quite happy to see that it doesn't completely suck so far. ![]() Jackass: The Game seems to get some fairly groan-laden responses from people we've mentioned it to, either because it's dismissed as another licensed game or because, it's, well, "Jackass," which our own Allen "Deslyn" Rausch has oft described as the first sign of the decline of western civilization. Even more importantly, you can export your files to a PC, edit them with more professional video editing software and even upload them to sites such as YouTube or Google Video. Of course, if the editing isn't so great, other gamers can go in, clean up your mess, and embarrass you with a better director's cut. Not only can you re-edit your best stunts to create an episode of the show, but you can upload them to the game's servers so that others can watch your shows and give them the "Hot or Not" treatment. It won't work on the Wee-Man games, but that's because they're on a fixed camera. Jackass PSP boasts an exclusive Director Mode, which allows you to take saved replays and re-edit them with new camera angles and effects. In addition to downloadable content, you'll also be able to upload your high scores for others to see. ![]() It will support infrastructure quite extensively in lieu of online multiplayer, Jackass has taken a page from the likes of Exit and Burnout Dominator and will offer downloadable content, including new stunts. Thanks to the PSP's online capabilities and extended memory, you'll have lots of leeway with your Jackass experience. While the PS2 has stuff like the Jackass Mart, that lets you buy unlockables with your cash, the PSP game is going much more for the jugular. On the other hand, the PSP supports ad hoc for up to four players. There's also the "Ass to Ass" mode, in which two players take one another on in competitive play. The PS2 game has "Round Robin," in which you'll take turns with a friend in trying to rack up high scores on big stunts. Multiplayer is also different between both versions. The handheld game is not so kind in this regard. One primary difference between the PS2 and PSP versions in each stunt is that in the PS2 version, if you fail a stunt repeatedly, the cumulative cash earned can eventually carry you over to the next episode. Otherwise, each has its own distinctive qualities. You can also expect unlockable movies and concept art from both versions. ![]() That means "yes" to vomiting up raw eggs (a Wee-Man game that emulates the "Cool Hand Luke" stunt from the first season of the show) and injury, but "no" to exciting sea cucumbers or shoving toy cars into uncomfortable places.īoth versions feature fundamentally similar visuals and objectives. When we asked how hard they'd planned to push an "M" rating, we were politely informed that the publisher is aiming for a "T" rating to reach a mass audience more than it's aiming for the ultra gross-out factor, or heavy amounts of the "extremely crude and dangerous stunts" listed on the MPAA's rating description of the films. It turns out that while the games have a certain gross-out factor, the over-the-top stunts, such as "Yellow Snow Cone" and "The Muscle Stimulator" will likely not be emulated in Jackass: The Game. ![]()
